Around fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Police state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then found numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative said the attack left him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
